AN ORDINARY DAY MEETS A DIVINE INTERRUPTION – Part 5

A day in the life of Peter

AN ORDINARY DAY OF FISHING

The sky is dark and it’s a little brisk outside, the rooster is crowing and Peter is rushing out the door, but not before kissing his wife. He was running a little behind schedule and wanted to get things ready for the work day. His brother Andrew was probably already there, and as usual, was going to brag on how he is always the first one at the lake. I can see Peter stepping onto the boat with net in hand and saying to himself. “It’s another day to fish, I hope a have a good catch today”. Little did he know that he would not only catch his greatest number of fish but he was going to also net his destiny.

THE STRANGER ON SHORE

Unbeknownst to Peter someone was watching him from a distance. It was a man. A stranger to some but familiar to others. The villagers say he was the carpenter’s son now turned teacher; one of Mary’s boys. In essence, this was no ordinary on looker; this divine gazer was there for a purpose. You might say that God always watches over us and you are right, he does! But this day was a little different. Peter was about to meet God incarnate and encounter a divine interruption to his ordinary day.

Jesus is now on the scene and without a word steps into Peter’s boat; or better yet, he steps into Peter’s life, ready to alter his vocation, and redirect him on a road to a new purpose. All the years Peter has spent working as a fisherman was to serve as preparation for the Lord’s school of ministry. All that Peter new about fishing was soon going to be utilized to net people for Christ and this was the day for his enrollment. The class was now in session with the divine instructor of heaven.

As time progressed that day Peter was asked by Jesus to cast the net again. Peter was hesitant for a second but decided to obey the Rhema word of the Lord. Upon his obedience something amazing and supernatural occurred; his greatest catch of his profession was right before him breaking the nets. It was so much that he needed other boats to help carry in the overflow. Soon thereafter Peter’s heart began to stir in a profound way. This sudden feeling he knew was not euphoria but a longing to be ever present with Jesus. I believe before He told Jesus “ I will follow you” Peter already made that decision in his heart. He was ready to leave his past behind and follow his Master wherever. Peter was now willing to cast his net towards people for as long as he carried breath.

Let me ask you a few questions. Have you thought recently about where you are in life right now? Have you asked yourself what you’ve been doing all these years; wondering if it will develop towards a greater cause? Well my friend, The answers believe that if you give your plans to the Lord, he will turn it into a greater purpose. God has a design and a time frame by which He will use all of you to a service for all of Him. He is watching you and there will come a SUDDEN moment when the Lord steps into your boat of your life and transforms your purpose into His.

I say to you today, continue fishing in the lake He has provided. Be faithful in your ordinary day and use your skills freely, consistently, and with thanksgiving. Do what is asked of you, be ready, and watchful because God is going to break your nets with increase like never before. Your divine interruption awaits you.

Thanks for visiting.
