In This Season Let Your Gift Make Room For You.
“ A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16 NKJV).
Jesus is the greatest gift ever, but God’s gifts to mankind didn’t stop there. Not only do we have access to the throne of grace, the right of using the name above all names, the blood of the Lamb, the living Word, our spiritual weapons of warfare, and the whole armor of God, we also have the Holy Spirit, who shares the testimony of Jesus we prophesy.
As a pastor, prophet, musician, worshipper, teacher, writer, designer or administrator, you have gifts. You may feel, at times, like no one sees your gift. You may feel like no one recognizes who you are—that you are hidden. Listen, if you are hidden you are hidden for a reason. Paul the apostle was extremely gifted both spiritually and naturally, but almost immediately after he was called he was hidden for several years in Arabia. He was hidden until the Holy Spirit led Barnabas to bring him forward.
Be assured of this: Your gift will make room for you at the right time. You will be recognized at the right time and in the right season. In the meantime, develop your gift through study and exercise. Yes, function in your gift in appropriate contexts. Use your gift to serve people whether anyone recognizes you are a prophet or not (see 1 Pet. 4:10).
Let me put it another way. You don’t need a title, a platform, or a microphone to function in your gift. Instead of asking people for opportunities, let your gift do the talking for you. When you operate in your gift with integrity, accuracy, and consistency as unto the Lord and not unto gaining opportunity, your gift will make room for you.
First Kings 20:41 reads, “Then the prophet quickly pulled the bandage from his eyes, and the king of Israel recognized him as one of the prophets.” Sometimes God lets you stay hidden from those who could promote you. But I assure you, the same Jesus who gave you the gift and the office will open up the eyes of those who can make room for you at the right time.
Be mindful that Jesus created the greatest divine interruption to our humanity in order to save it. May you be an instrument in His hands to bring many to His feet.
Blessings to you and your family –
