About 10 months ago a virus paralyzed my left vocal cord and left me with limited sound of speech. Considering that I use my voice to earn a living and teach in the men’s group at my local church; I was devastated. It has been a long road in my recovery and staying encouraged has been a battle; especially in social settings. Yet the Lord has been gracious and ever present in my trouble. One thing I know for sure is that the Lord is always teaching us something. Therefore with that thought in mind, I decided to enroll as a student in the Master’s class, to learn what He wanted me to know.
What I’ve learned from this awful experience?
Here are three things.
- Your voice is not just how you sound but how you live your life before God and others.
It’s your experience, character, and testimony in Christ that should resonate before the world and the enemy. Let your testimony in Christ be a voice that speak loudly against the forces of darkness.
- You don’t always have to speak.
Let silence and solitude before God be your teacher. If you want to HEAR HIM MORE – learn to enjoy the silence, then you will be able to hear what the Spirit of God is saying.
- When the sound of your voice has a limitations make sure you still use it to bless others as much as possible.
Teach, pray, use your prophetic gift wisely, and worship until your healing arrives. If you can’t speak then write the words down. Maybe even start that book or Sunday school curriculum the Lord has put in your heart.
Find a different outlet to live out your purpose. If limitations still arises, as it did in my case, continue to honor the Lord with the least of your ability. When you do, the Lord will begin expand your capabilities because you have been faithful with the least of things.
I hope my testimony helps someone today.
Be blessed and remember that your voice is a threat against the enemy. Use it proudly, use it in various ways, and use it in the power of His might!
Blessings,
Sgomez

Thank you for sharing this great testimony and wisdom. We all need to be silent more focused on Him and what He is saying to us. He is ALWAYS speaking and it’s up to us to be listening. We continue to pray daily for you and your family! Richest blessings to you!
